The Board of Directors of Barracks West Condominium in Charlottesville, Va., has tapped WPM MidSouth Multifamily as the property’s new management company. The appointment of WPM Multifamily went into effect April 1 at the more than 50-year-old condominium community, where in excess of 300 units continue to be operated as rental apartments.

Located at 2639 Barracks Road, Barracks West was built in 1968 and was originally designed as a student housing community serving University of Virginia (UVA) students. The 360-unit property underwent redevelopment in 2006, and transformed into condominiums at that time. Units feature hardwood floors or wall-to-wall carpet, gas stoves, dishwashers and garbage disposals. A newly renovated clubhouse with fireplace, 60-inch flat-screen TV and billiards is among the community’s higher-profile amenities.

The fractured nature of Barracks West Condominium, with almost 60 units being owned, makes property management more complex and challenging. WPM MidSouth has experience in both condo/homeowner association management and multifamily residential management.

MidSouth’s complete array of multifamily residential property management services include lease-up, respositioning and rebranding, construction management, owner’s representative asset management and acquisition due diligence.

Appealing location

Barracks West Condominium’s wooded site is not only close to the University of Virginia, but also Darden School of Business, the School of Law and Piedmont Virginia Community College. UVA Hospital and downtown Charlottesville are also within a short distance.

Charlottesville Albemarle Airport is 9.1 miles from the property. Three shopping centers are within a five-minute drive of Barracks West Condominium. Among the parks and recreational opportunities within a 15-minute drive are Ivy Creek Natural Area, Virginia Discovery Museum, Rivanna Conservation Society, Leander McCormick Observatory and Ragged Mountain Natural Area.
